Adilyn Crochet Bag / Pillow – FREE PATTERN

With a geometric boho design this pattern can be used to crochet a beautifully textured tote bag OR a trendy throw pillow – the choice is yours! Using Lion Brand® Rewind Yarn, their sand-washed color options mesh perfectly with the global-inspired bohemian design. Lightweight and durable, this is a project you’ll enjoy for years to come! Scroll down for the free pattern or purchase an inexpensive downloadable PDF from Etsy HERE or Ravelry HERE!

Once again I loved using Lion Brand® Rewind Yarn for a crochet bag project.  It’s so lightweight and durable.  The colors have the look of raffia yarn but Rewind is actually crazy soft (almost like felt) and easy to work with.  With 23 colors to choose from there are so many options for this bag (if you decide to also use Rewind).  I can’t wait to see someone work this tote up in ‘Moto Jacket’ (black), ‘Current Situation’ (burgundy), or ‘Arctic Ice’ (grey-blue)!

If you do decide to go with Lion Brand®’s Rewind Yarn you can actually purchase this design as a kit on their website.  You get the required yarn (4 skeins) in any color, PDF downloadable/printable pattern, and you can even add in a crochet hook and darning needle if you need them!  Click HERE to check it out!

Have I told you one of the best things about this pattern yet?  You can also use these instructions to make a cushion cover!  Bohemian and geometric . . this pillow would be a great addition to your home decor.  You can grab a fiber stuffing from Lion Brand HERE (you can also choose to simply add it into your kit) or Ikea HERE

I love how this tote is wearable in all seasons!  I think it’s perfect for Fall but it was actually originally designed as a Spring & Summer bag!  I love when handmade pieces can get so much use.

So whether you’re looking for something to carry your sunscreen and towel to the beach or a bag for all those Fall markets or maybe something to tote around your next WIP in . . this trendy puff stitch purse is just the ticket!

This project was actually inspired by a woven rug I saw online.  I loved the contrast of flat and raised stitching to create a modern design.  It took me some time to find the perfect stitch for the mini bobbles but once that fell into place this bag worked up so effortlessly!

Okay, okay, I’m sure you’ve read enough and are ready for the pattern . . . let’s jump in!

• Stitch count is in [ ] at the end of each row
• You can create a bag or a pillow cover using this pattern
• Bag/pillow is made of 2 identical panels (front and back) seamed together
• Bag/pillow panels are worked in rows from the bottom up
• Bag straps are crocheted separately and sewn to bag using yarn and darning needle
• The puff pattern is created with tall double treble (dtr) stitches which “puff” out in the shorter single crochet (sc) rows (you may have to push or force the double treble stitches to puff out on the front of your work when working on the back rows – see video tutorial)
