Ryker Ribbed Knitted Hat – FREE PATTERN

My very first knitting pattern is finally ready for you! Eeek! Meet the ‘Ryker Ribbed knit Hat‘.  This pattern is perfect for beginners (especially if you’re coming from the world of crochet like me).  The instructions are easy to follow and there’s even a detailed video tutorial.  I wanted to make knitting this fisherman’s ribbed knitted hat as simple as possible!  The pattern includes instructions for newborn, baby, toddler, kids, and adult sizes so you can make this classic + timeless beanie for the whole family or as a gift for loved ones big and small!  Scroll down for the free instructions or purchase an inexpensive downloadable PDF from Etsy HERE or Ravelry HERE!

I used Lion Brand’s Heartland yarn on this project and I’m really pleased.  It easily slid off my needles and the finished toque is super soft!  I love how the heathered look of this yarn gives this simple ribbed hat a little extra detail.  You can find the exact yarn HERE

This hat actually started as a simple comparison to a crochet hat I was making.  The ‘Rylee Ribbed Crochet Hat‘ is an exact match except achieved with a crochet hook instead of knitting needles.  If you’re like me and also crochet you can find the crochet version of this hat HERE

If you’re unfamiliar with my work, I started Lakeside Loops in 2014 and what began as a hobbie has expanded into a full time job writing and sharing crochet patterns.  I learned how to crochet as a child but have always LOVED the look and functionality of knit.  While I struggled for years to wrap my head around knitting my crochet designs often imitated the fibre art I longed to learn (you can find MANY knit-look crochet patterns on my blog and in my Etsy shop).  I tried for YEARS to knit and finally one Fall, two years ago, it clicked!  I’ve been practising and working and reworking pieces and am so so happy to be sharing my first knitting pattern with you today!

As I said already, if you’re coming from a crochet background (like me) I think this pattern is PERFECT for you!  The design is super simple and in the video tutorial I tried to go over each step in as much detail and as slowly as possible.  I really wanted this design to be doable for absolute beginners!

So, if you’re new to knitting or just looking for a simple project to whip up quickly this Fall/Winter I hope you enjoy this little guy as much as I enjoyed designing and writing it!  Let’s dive in . . .
