Henley Crochet Cable Heart Hat – FREE pattern

Wow, I’ve been working on the launch of my new website + blog for over a year and it’s hard to believe the day is finally here! I’m thrilled to share this crochet (yes it really is crochet!) cable heart hat as my first free pattern. The instructions include 5 sizes ranging from Toddler to Adult and come with a chart + video tutorial. You can download an inexpensive concise PDF of the pattern on Etsy HERE or Ravelry HERE or keep scrolling to view the online version for free below (gosh I love being able to say that)! : )

This cable crochet heart toque has been on my mind for quite some time but it took dozens of tries to get the concept from my head to my hook.  It was a labour of love (pun intended) and I am so happy with how the cabled heart shape turned out. I think the brim and cables look so much like knit (if you’ve followed me for a while you know this is a dream combo for me) but are achieved using basic crochet stitches!  The pattern is more of an intermediate to advanced design because of the colour changes mixed with the cable work BUT I have another heart hat pattern in the works that is VERY beginner friendly so stay tuned.

Those who follow me on Instagram may find this pink + white heart hat a surprise shift from my usual monotone style.  The truth is that it was my oldest daughter’s idea . . she just turned 8 and requested a new toque in her favourite colour so I worked up this one just for her.  I used Lion Brand’s ‘Feels Like Butta Yarn’ (found HERE) in Light Pink + White (it’s more white than it appears in the picture).  It is beyond soft (almost velvety) and was a treat to work with but I will caution that it’s a lighter ‘medium’ weight yarn and the finished size turned out to be much smaller than the pattern measurements.  You could offset this by going up a size (or maybe even two) in the pattern.

Okay, ready to see how this hat is made?  Let’s get started!  : )
