This modern & minimalistic relaxed fit crochet t-shirt style top is the perfect addition to your spring, summer, or fall wardrobe. It’s breathable, chic, and simple to make! Would make a perfect cover up piece or layer for transitioning into the cooler months. Scroll down for the free pattern or purchase an inexpensive downloadable PDF from Etsy HERE or Ravelry HERE!
This rattan-look piece has been on my ‘to-design’ list for a while. I remember my grand parents had a beautiful rattan rocking chair . . it had dark wood trim and a light rattan seat and back. It was so simple and gorgeous. Lately I’ve been admiring rattan bags and rattan look cover ups and sweaters. It took a lot of trial and error to get the stitch and spacing just right but I’m very happy with the final rattan inspired look.
This was originally meant to be a June/July pattern release but the weeks got away from me so here we are in September and it’s finally ready to go! In hind sight though, I can see this as a fall layering piece in addition to a spring & summer top. Here on the East Coast of Canada we’ve had an unseasonably dry & warm fall so this is definitely a top I’m still gravitating toward. Styled with dark jeans and clogs it’s a chic fall look.
OR . . maybe you have a tropical getaway planned and crocheting this fun t-shirt would be the perfect way to countdown to your holiday! This would be a cute cover-up top with a pair of shorts or linen pants (like in the picture) by the pool or on the beach. You can also pair it with a tank top to wear to lunch or dinner. The cotton yarn makes it perfect for warm weather!
Speaking of yarn, I used Lion Brand® 24/7 Cotton® (in ‘Ecru’). It was the perfect weight and texture for this piece. I also love the colour options (there are 31 shades to choose from)! I would love to see this top made up in ‘Taupe’ or a pretty light pink ‘Beechnut’. A rich brown like ‘Coffee Beans’ would also be nice! One of my favourite things about sharing patterns is seeing the colour choices you make so please don’t forget to tag me if you post pictures of your work in progress or finished piece. 🙂
