Harley Herringbone Crochet Mittens – FREE PATTERN

Stay stylish and warm in these modern herringbone stitch crochet mittens (that match the Harley Herringbone Twist Head Warmer)! This pattern creates classy and comfy Fall and Winter mittens perfect for the whole family.  You can make baby, toddler, kids, or adult size with these instructions. The pattern is beginner friendly thanks to the included video tutorial and step by step pictures. The mittens work up quickly thanks to Lion Brand’s Wool Ease medium weight yarn . . this would be a great project to sell in your shop or give as a last minute gift!  Scroll down for the free instructions or purchase an inexpensive downloadable PDF from Etsy HERE or Ravelry HERE OR buy a kit (pattern + yarn) from Lion Brand HERE!

After creating the Harley Head Warmer I knew I needed to make mittens to match!  I love that the medium weight yarn is thick enough to see the herringbone design clearly defined yet thin enough that this set doesn’t feel too bulky.

I’ve been in love with the crochet herringbone stitch for a while now.  It started with my Neo Crochet Bag pattern and then moved on to my Heath Crochet Hat pattern.  The stitch is easy to work and creates a dense and beautifully textured design.  In the video tutorial for this pattern I walk you through the stitch slowly so that it’s hopefully very easy for you to learn and copy.  I hope you enjoy using this new stitch as much as I do! 🙂

You can use any medium weight yarn for this pattern but I loved Lion Brand’s Wool Ease! Not only because of the stitch definition (you can really see each slanted stitch clearly and the herringbone designs pops as I said above) but also thanks to the warmth and practicality the wool-blend provides.  It’s also a very affordable blend and depending on the size you’re making you won’t need a lot.
